About
This blog is a sociology project that will do several things:
1. Research the craft movement – and try to determine WHY it became so popular.
2. Research the craft movement – and try to determine why it became so popular with WOMEN.
3. I will make a toy for The Toy Society and document my feelings and frustrations (and how that ties in with the above questions) as I prepare it for deployment to a new home. Here is where I am the sociological guinea pig.
This blog will probably become a cobweb after this class is over. Or maybe I will decide I like blogging.
Update: I think I know where this blog is headed after class is over. I am, sort of, fascinated with Wal-Mart. The corporate giant appears in my stories (I am a creative writing major). I shop there every week and yet I am repulsed by it, to the point where I will sometimes have to exit without my groceries. I am sure that one of the levels of hell in Dante’s Inferno is Wal-Mart. So, from now on, I will do my best to make Wal-Mart a better place. I will do all my random acts of kindness there – in the place where people are most likely to be angry or irritated. I have dropped a Toy Society toy off there, and will continue these drops until I am found out. I have passed out gift cards to random strangers.
I encourage you to do the same. Alleviate the pains of hell. Do a random act of kindness in Wal-Mart.
